
Billy Joe Hurley, 87, of Lewisport, KY and formally of Newburgh, IN, went to meet Jesus on Thursday May 15, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born February 11, 1938, in Eureka, IN to the late John and Eunice Goodwin Hurley. He was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Joe loved going on camping trips to various campgrounds and making new friends. He loved life, had many friends and had a special place in his heart for children.
He was employed at AB White Heating and Air for 27 years and the Warrick County School Corp for 18 years when he retired.
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Sharon Hurley; a brother, John L. Hurley; and a sister, Edith Lloyd.
Joe is survived by his wife of 18 years, JoAnn Basham Alexander Hurley; a daughter, Carol Durham of Tennyson, IN; a son, Brian Hurley of Owensboro; a stepson, Kenneth Alexander of Lewisport; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Hurley, Jessica Hurley, Abigail Durham, and Cassie Alexander; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerry Hurley of Newburgh, IN and Rickey Hurley of Washington, Iowa.
The funeral service for Joe will be at 2 p.m. Monday May 19, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
