Robert Wayne (Bob) Milam Sr., 80, passed from the loving embrace of his family into the arms of Jesus on May 17th in Owensboro at Wellington Parc under the care of hospice. Bob was born in Owensboro on March 27, 1945, to the late Laymon and Christeen Milam. He was a boilermaker by trade and retired from Titan Contracting after over 30 years of service. His work and vacationing with family took him to all 50 states and Canada. Bob was a life-long Christian and a 50 plus year member of Masonic Lodge #130. Although unable to attend regular meetings due to his travel for work, he enjoyed meeting other Masons wherever he went.
In addition to his parents Bob is proceeded in death by sons Jeffrey Michael Milam, Robert Wayne Milam Jr, Jeremy Brent Milam and brother Kenneth Milam.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are Bob’s high school sweetheart and devoted wife of over 62 years, Patsy Millay Milam, adoring daughters Jennifer Milam Daley (Allen Davis) of Maceo, Jillian Patrice Milam (Chris Hinden) of Tappahannock, VA, grandson Robert Wayne Daley of Owensboro and very special nephew Scott Milam (Melinda) of Hartford in addition to many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
No matter where he was working, Bob never missed a band concert, choir performance, dance recital or ball game his daughters or grandson were participating in. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and watching old Westerns. His love for fishing and boating was well known. He and wife Patsy spent many hours in a boat fishing in various lakes. He always wanted to decide before starting if they were going to catch and release the fish or keep them. Usually, the decision was to release them knowing he would be the one to have to clean them.
A Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Mark Hatfield will be at 12:00 pm Friday, May 23 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00pm and Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
The family wants to thank Katie, the staff at Wellington Parc, as well as the hospice workers who took care of Bob and them during his final days. They ask that anyone who feels moved to do so donate in Bob’s name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or The American Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
