George Michael “Mike” Tanner, 65, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 24, 1960 in Owensboro to George Donald Tanner and the late Gloria Dean Price Tanner. Mike was a passionate guitarist, beloved music teacher, antique car fanatic, devoted husband, loving father, and fun-loving “Poppy”. He was joyfully baptized last month.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary Jill McLevaine Tanner; and a daughter, Taran Michelle McLevaine.
He is survived by a son, Jacob Michael Tanner (Jessica); father, Don Tanner; four grandchildren, Brayden Dominick, Anna Tanner, Riley Mauzy, and Morgan Mauzy; and a brother, James Lee “Jim Bob” Tanner (Elizabeth).
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. A private burial will be at Green Brier Baptist Church Cemetery.
