Felix Cortez, 73, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home. He was born June 14, 1952 in Elm Mott, Texas to the late Joseph Lebon Cortez and Hallie Odelle Johnson Cortez. Felix retired from Sears after 35 years where he worked as a manager and retired from Dollar Tree. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Felix was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. His family was his top priority.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dori Payne; brother, Claude Grayson; and a sister, Norma Jean Grunder.
He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Payne (Tim); five grandchildren, Travis Warner, Gavin Jones, Taylor Clary (Roger), Jacob Payne (Brooklyn), and Brock Payne; six great-grandchildren, Johannah, Hunter, Remington, Kyler, Julian, and Riley; sister, Debbi Rendon (Louis); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
