Jason Wayne Edge, 54, of Hopkinsville, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on December 31, 2025. He was born in Owensboro, on January 19, 1971, to Wayne and Laura Westerfield Edge. Jason worked at Amfine Chemical corporation as a facilities manager.
Jason valued education and lifelong learning, graduating from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1989 before earning a degree in Electrical Science from Owensboro Community and Technical College. He later completed his bachelor’s degree in technology management from Western Kentucky University in 2013. A devoted sports fan, he especially loved high school and college football and proudly cheered on the Fighting Aces. Known as a true jack of all trades, he could fix just about anything and found great fulfillment in his second job as the trusted handyman for Grace Episcopal Church in Hopkinsville. Jason was a respected and supportive boss whose coworkers always knew he had their backs. He also enjoyed horse racing and followed it with enthusiasm. Fiercely loyal to his family and friends, Jason’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with his daughter and his beloved grandsons.
Jason is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Beatrice Westerfield; paternal grandfather, Ancel Edge; beloved aunt, Elizabeth Davies; and mother-in-law, Patsy Coomes.
Along with his parents, Jason is survived by his former wife and best friend of 36 years, Shannon Edge; his daughter, Alexis Edge (John) Whalen; his grandsons, John Whalen Jr., Shepherd Whalen, Parker Whalen, and Cooper Whalen; his siblings, Jeremy (Sheryl) Edge and Jenny (Louis) Hayes; nieces, Addison and Haley Edge; nephews, Conner and Benji Hayes; maternal grandmother, Huberta Edge; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the funeral home.
