Jeanne Johnson, 83, of Owensboro passed away peacefully Thursday, January 1, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. The Richmond, VA native was born September 2, 1942, one of six children to the late Benjamin Jewell Sr. and Rita Bosler Jewell. Jeanne received her bachelor’s degree in biology from UK after which she attended Brescia College. She enjoyed gardening, traveling to Louisville to visit family, and hunting Kentucky agates and arrowheads with her late husband Frank. Jeanne also enjoyed working crossword puzzles with her mother as they shared breakfast together. Most of all, Jeanne loved her kids and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Johnson in 2007 and her brother, Benjamin Jewell Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Anna Raymer of Owensboro and son, Joseph Cox of Jeffersonville, IN; two grandchildren, Tristan Raymer and Braxton Cox; two great grandchildren, Isabella and Sophia Raymer; siblings, Lynn Jewell Kempf (David), Dr. James Jewell, Edward Jewell (Pam), and Denis Jewell (Janice); numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would also like to extend a special thanks to Jeannes neighbor, Randy/Cassondra Lowe, who frequently visited, cared and lovingly helped with yard work.
