Steve G. Rector, 70, of Greenville, KY, passed away on Monday, January 26th, 2026 at his residence. He was born on February 17th, 1955, in Muhlenberg County, the son of the late Arliss Lyndell and Marjorie Nell Buchannan Rector. Steve was a very talented guitarist and a vital part of the Merle Travis thumb-picking family. He enjoyed making music with his friends and others in the community. He was a former member of the Kentucky Arts Council and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Rector, and a nephew, Koda Rector.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelia Rector; two sons, Chad (Laquita) Rector and Matthew (Lacie) Arnett; two daughters, Jennifer (Brad) Story and Stephanie (Billie) Renfrow; eight grandchildren; one brother, Eddie (Carol) Rector; one niece.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Gary’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Steven Rector.
