James L. “Jim” Heep, 80, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on November 21, 1945, in Daviess County to the late James F. Heep and Louise Cooper Heep.
Jim, also known as “Scrap” from his CB handle days, had many passions in life, several involving a set of wheels. He thoroughly loved driving a tour bus for United Coach for many years, building and riding motorcycles, actually riding his Honda Goldwing in every state in the US except for Hawaii, and working on and painting cars.
Surviving is his wife, Molly Bruington Heep; sons, Jim D. (Kim) Heep and Jim Oelze; grandchildren, Skyler Heep and Keeley Robertson; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Easton, Kynsleigh, Belle, and Linkin.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 5 p.m. on February 16, 2026, at Ridgewood Baptist Church 800 Carter Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42301
