Mary Anita Bohannon, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 20, 1951 in Daviess County to the late Maurice Carl Reynolds and Lily Clark Heisler. Anita had worked as a Ward Clerk and CNA at the Owensboro Hospital. She loved to work crossword puzzles, reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and a cold Bud Lite.
In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Bohannon.
Survivors include her sons, Chris Barker (April) and Jeremy Barker (Racheal); grandchildren, Chase Barker (Taylor), Tyler Barker, Jayden Barker, Jaycee Barker, James Miller (Cagney) and Jesse Woodby (Kiley); great-grandchildren, Max Barker and Jack Barker; stepchildren, Jessie Bohannon, Kasey Sharpe (Michael) and Chris Bohannon; step-grandchildren, Ben Bohannon, Ellie Sharpe and Emmett Sharpe; sister, Carla Teague; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday with prayers at 4:00pm and from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home. A private urn ennichment will be at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
