
Gerald Dennis Rhodes, 74, of Hawesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at his home. He was born September 4, 1951 in Daviess County to William Gerald Rhodes and the late Inez “Tommy” Marie Hinton Rhodes. Dennis worked as a millwright and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was also a farmer, logger, and a sawyer. He loved bluegrass music and was an Appalachia flat foot dancer and teacher and traveled a lot for festivals. Dennis loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a great sense of humor.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Rhodes; brother-in-law, Earl Nash; and a sister-in-law, Judy Rhodes.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Husk (David), Brandy Deskin (Brett), and Amanda Rhodes; companion and dance partner, Sandy Denton; father, Gerald Rhodes; grandchildren, Derek Husk (Amelia), Kristin Kellum (Christian), and Lukas Deskin (Hillary); great-grandchildren, Judah, Gannon, and Scarlet; siblings, Wayne Rhodes (Doris), Peggy Howard (Charles), Sally Nash, David Rhodes (Darla), Becky Howard (Ronnie), Richard Rhodes, Russell Rhodes (Monica), Vickie Aud (Brynn), and Kelly Rhodes (Ronda); and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home.
