
Bernard Frederick “Fred” Keller, Sr., age 85, of Philpot, Ky, passed away on March 21, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford Rehab and Wellness Center in Hartford, KY. Fred was born in Daviess County on April 14, 1940, to the late Bernard Casper, and Mary Elizabeth Roby Keller. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Martha Jane Melton Keller (2011), three infant siblings; a nephew, Todd Keller (1993); a brother, Frank Keller (2013); and a sister, Rose Bernadette Keller (2026).
Fred was a member of St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. He graduated from St Mary of the Woods High School, Whitesville, Ky in 1958, and the day after graduation, he was employed at Keller and Knott Sheet Metal Company where he achieved a successful career as a lead sheet metal fabricator. He later retired from Resource Recycling after many years of service.
Fred was a humble, generous, and hardworking man. He was a good storyteller and loved making people laugh. He enjoyed gardening, farming and spending time with his family and later in life enjoyed going to flea markets.
Survivors include a son, Bernard Frederick “Junior” Keller, Jr and a daughter, Jane Elizabeth “Janie” (David) Matthews; Grandchildren: Megan (Chance) Payne, Lauren Keller, and Daniel (Kari) Payne, Jr.; great Grandchildren: Madilyn Liebee, Owen Keller and Penelope Payne, Wesley, Owen and Preslee Cecil; Siblings: Genevieve Boarman, Earl (Janis) Keller, Mary Lou O’Bryan, Alice Sue (Bryce) Roberts; Leroy (Joyce) Keller; Marie (Gerald) Wedding; Raymond “Buck” (Nancy) Keller, Rose Mary (Ben) Thompson, Sister Martha Keller, OSU, and Margaret (Neil) Kallman; Sister-in-Law, Joy Keller and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral mass will be said on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, KY, with burial following at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m., at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville KY.
