James David Falloway, 77, of Owensboro, passed away March 22, 2026. He was born in Owensboro on July 11, 1948, to the late Clarence Amos and Minnie Lorraine Henry Falloway. David was dedicated to God, his family, and his country. He served them well with a devoted heart. David bravely volunteered and served his country as a member of the United States Army, as a flight engineer on CH-47 Chinooks for the 178t Assault Support Helicopter Company in Vietnam, carrying with him the same resilience and dependability that defined his life.
David was a man who left a lasting impression on those he encountered – steady, kind, and fair. His generous heart and adventurous spirit was balanced with his no-nonsense approach to work and discipline. He was a man of practical advice and quiet wisdom.
Above all, David was steadfast in his beliefs and principles.
David loved being behind the wheel. In his early years, he was all gas and no brakes. As he got older…still all gas. He was an avid gearhead, who loved muscle cars, with a particular fondness for Ford Mustangs, and Ram trucks. He enjoyed watching old westerns and war films, especially any movie with Clint Eastwood. David was a patriotic Veteran who proudly supported soldiers and veterans alike, often remembering those who gave everything for their country. He also took pride in his extensive family tree, and enjoyed researching and tracing ancestry. David was a problem-solver, often coming up with resourceful, creative and unique ways to solve life’s ordinary challenges. His artistic talent was impressive and has no doubt influenced and shaped his sons’ and grandchildren’s lives.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Teddy (Michelle) Falloway and Benji (Stephanie) Falloway; his grandchildren, Jonah, Isaiah, Leah and Langston, Nolan, Preston, Emersun; the mother of his children, Sun Falloway; his siblings, Donna Dugger (Kent) Todisco, and Kenny Fallaway; his dear niece and nephews; his longtime partner, Carol Richter; and his “sister from another mother” Theresa Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with a final salute at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
