Betty Jean Curl, 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation. She was born April 21, 1928 in Daviess County to the late John T. Poynter and Mary Fenwick Poynter. Betty retired from the Daviess County Health Department where she worked in Records and was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Conrad Adelman; second husband, Dave Curl; son, Martin Adelman; daughter, Melinda Reynolds; and sisters, Mabrey Hedges, Margaret Ellis and Sue Bethel.
She is survived by son, John Adelman (Darlene); daughter, Connie Bowlds (Virgil); eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Poynter.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00am until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
