Jerry Lee Kasinger, 78, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Jerry was born April 6, 1948 to the late James and Gayle Kasinger. Jerry was a graduate of Daviess County High School. He was a faithful and present member of First Baptist Church and the Mavericks Sunday School class. Jerry was employed with Atmos Energy for 43 years as a service technician before retiring to the country and helping make their home a place of comfort, strength and faith where everyone wanted to gather.
Jerry never met a stranger. He would do anything to help anyone in need. He’d give you the shirt off his back and never ask for it in return. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, Sherry, and all the family and friends he could gather around the dinner table. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and anything outdoors.
Other than his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his younger brother, Larry Kasinger; and his three best 4-legged buddies, Kelsey, Teddy, and most recently Tucker.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sherry Kasinger; sons, James Darin Kasinger and his wife, Tina and Christopher Sean Kasinger; daughter, Leslie Dawn McPherson and her husband Walter; brother, Terry Kasinger and his wife Marcie; grandsons, Jacob Darin Kasinger and his wife, Londyn, and their children, and Garrett Daniel Pointer and wife, Stacy, and their children.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at First Baptist Church. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at First Baptist Church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church, First on Missions, 230 J.R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303.
