Harold Owen Ellington, 77, of Owensboro passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Columbia Healthcare Center. He was born April 2, 1942 in Calvert City, KY to the late J.M. and Lillian Owen Ellington. Harold retired from National City Bank as the senior chief loan officer and worked in banking for 40 years. In 1959, his basketball team, the North Marshall Jets, won the KY State Tournament. He enjoyed gardening, fruit trees, fishing, camping, canoeing, riding his scooter and traveling. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Rita Lewis Ellington; children, Sam (Jill) Ellington, Ramsey (Julia) Ellington, Dustin (Sherri) Ellington, J. Garry (Stacy) Miller, Jason Miller, and David (MacKenzie) Miller; grandchildren, Jenna Ellington Anderson (Tim), Hannah Ellington, Andrea Ellington, Grant Ellington, Jett Ellington, Micah Ellington, Clayton Ellington, Christopher Ellington, Nicholas Miller, Danielle Baker, McKenna Guynn, Emma Miller, Zoe Miller, and Camden Miller; brother, William M. Ellington; sisters, Iva Dean Hoffman, Ruth Yarbrough, Jean Bland, Carol Sue Stahl, and Joyce Prichard; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow at South Hampton Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
