Herbert W. "Herbie" Bell

Herbert W. “Herbie” Bell, 82, of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. He was born December 3, 1936 in Star Lake, New York to the late Irving William and Winifred Leeder Bell. He was employed as a planner at General Electric Company in Syracuse, NY and in Owensboro from 1956-1979 and at Simmonds Precision/Hercules/BF Goodrich, Norwich, NY, Unison, Fort Worth, TX as a Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer from 1980 until his retirement in1998 at the age of 62. Herbie and his wife, Barbara, resided in South Otselic, NY from 1979 to 1997. For 17 months from 1997 to 1998, they resided in Fort Worth, TX then returned to Owensboro to retire. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and Society of Manufacturing Engineering. Herbie enjoyed hunting and fishing and had many a tall tale of deer hunting in NY state. He watched Syracuse, NY, UK and U of L basketball games and Chicago “Cubs” and NY “Yankee” baseball games and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and reading. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepson, Jimmy Bramschreiber; and a brother, Delbert Bell.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Barbara Bell; daughter Terri Doherty and husband Joe; son, Mark Irving Bell; stepsons, R.D. Bramschreiber and wife Kay, John Bramschreiber and wife Tandy and Bob Bramschreiber and wife Stephanie; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; brother, Fred Bell; sisters, Sandra Brown and husband Bobby and Judy Coomes; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
