Robert P. Crafton, 90, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at The Heartford House with his wife and daughter at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Crafton and Marjorie Juanita Lee Crafton, and his brothers, William Marshall Crafton and David Lynn Crafton.
Bob was a sweet, kind man who always took the initiative to help people. It didn’t matter if it was a relative, friend, neighbor, or someone he never met. Bob was unselfish with his time and acts of compassion for others. He was good natured and had a fun sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family, especially his adored granddaughter, Zoe, who, at his request, called him Old Bob. A devout Christian, he was an ordained deacon who served at Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church and Buena Vista Baptist Church.
Bob is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Francess Sue Sandefur Crafton; his daughter, Paula Crafton Sherman and her husband, Jonathan; his granddaughter, Zoe; and siblings, Virginia Crafton, Martha Sue Crafton Dodl, Derwood Crafton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who made Bob’s life richer through their kindness and thoughtfulness, especially in his later years, and Hospice and Palliative Care in Owensboro and Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Cash Creek Cemetery, 19113 Highway 1078 South, Henderson, Kentucky 42420. Brother Robert Duncan will officiate.
