Janice Craven Smith, 77, of Utica, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Heartford House surrounded by her family and friends. She was born June 24, 1948 in Paducah to the late Homer and Virginia Minton Craven. Janice worked at Walmart for 32 years and was a faithful member of Green Brier Baptist Church for 32 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Larry Gene Smith, for whom Janice was a constant source of strength and his rock throughout their marriage; son-in-law, Randall Leon Hagan, Jr.; brothers, Harold and Paul Kenneth; sisters, Helen, Shorty, and Mary Lou; and nephews, Scotty and Jeffy Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Tina Morgan (Greg) and Tammy Hagan; grandchildren, Krystal Dawn Burton (Matt), Bradley Hagan, and Sean Hagan; two great-grandchildren, Brakson Bennett (Krystal) and Fischer Hagan (Krystal); a brother, Robert Craven; two sisters, Louise McDonald and Jeannie Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Green Brier Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 and again on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
