Jackie “Jack” Lewis Carlisle, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 16, 2026. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on July 15, 1939, to the late Shelby Carlisle and Flossie Henry Carlisle Rice. Jack was a member of Audubon Church of the Nazarene.
Jack retired from The HON Company after 39 years of service. More importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, pappaw, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially putting up Christmas lights for his grandchildren and cooking meals for everyone. He was most known for his incredible cheesecakes.
Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Rice; sisters, Shannon Carlisle Reynolds and Bonnie Carlisle Bowlds; brothers, Larry, James “Freddie,” Keith, and Rickey Carlisle; sister-in-law, Mildred Carlisle; and brother-in-law, Ron Vaughn.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 66 years, Carolyn Faye Carlisle; sons, Jackie (Victoria) Carlisle, Frederick (Cherlyn) Carlisle, and Ray (Julie) Carlisle; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren expected in June; six great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne (Mary Rose) Carlisle, Steve (Sonia) Carlisle, Floetta Vaughn, Sandra (Ron) Sandefur, Elaine Thompson, and Kristina Tucker; sisters-in-law, Mary Carlisle, Rexie Carlisle, Connie Carlisle, and Gail Carlisle; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends and neighbors, Brian and Karen Chain, Earl Bailey, and Benny and Zachary Sasser.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, with Doug Grant and Matt Dyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, and again Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. till the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery.
