
Robert S. Hayden, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 27, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born August 20, 1943, to the late James E. and Elaine J. (Sharp) Hayden and was married to the former Darris Jean Fenwick on May 30, 1964.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Booneville, IN and worked for Thomas Mobile Homes for many years before moving on to retire from the Owensboro Public School System.
Bob enjoyed UK basketball, Nascar and spending Sundays going to restaurants with his friends. His biggest blessing was his twin grandchildren, Hope and Austin.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his son, Keith Hayden; brothers, David, William and Joel Hayden; and his dog, Holly.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 62, Jean Hayden; son, Nathan Hayden (Amy) of Owensboro; twin grandchildren, Hope and Austin Hayden; sisters, Jaqueline Bossu (Steve) of Chicago and Charlene Mabry (Keith) of Henderson; brother, Jerry Hayden of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Bob will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
