Raymond M. “Ray” Ballard, 78, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1948, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Monroe and Ruth Freeman Ballard.
Ray proudly served in the United States Army. When he was younger, he worked at Owensboro Brick Yard hauling bricks and was also known as a handyman throughout his life who could fix just about anything, including building several cars and tractors.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Ballard; and three sisters, Dorothy Hatfield, Diane Hanks, and Brenda Simerll.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Sherry Ballard; a brother, Billy Ballard; two sisters, Janice (Dan) Miller and Linda Pollack; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Ray will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Dennis McFadden officiating. Burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
