Jerry Taylor Engle, age 84, of Grand Rivers, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in 1942, Jerry lived a life defined by hard work, faith, laughter, and love for those around him. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and carried that spirit of dedication throughout his life.
Jerry worked in the coal mines, farmed the land, and was a professional horseshoer. He was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and his love of the outdoors. More than anything, Jerry was a jokester who loved life. He enjoyed making people laugh and brought joy to family gatherings and everyday moments alike.
A man of deep faith, Jerry loved God and found strength and purpose in his beliefs. He cherished his family and took great pride in watching it grow through the generations. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Bandy; his brothers, Leroy Engle and Billy Frank Burns, as well as his parents, James Engle and Mamie Ruth Engle. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lily Myrtle Engle; his daughter, Angie (Jim) Nell; his sister, Evelyn (Paul) Cowan; his grandchildren, Kristen (Noah) Clickner, Brittany (Shane) Stamm and Zachery (Zoey) Nell, Clayton (Blair) Nell, and Tyler Bandy; and his great-grandchildren, James Clickner, Ryan Clickner, Morgan Stamm, Jack Stamm, Cayman Nell, and Miriam Nell. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, June 3rd at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly, KY, officiated by Rev. James Hosapple, with military honors to follow. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
