Mary Janice Hawkins, 69 of Owensboro, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born at Our Lady of Mercy in Owensboro to the late Frank and Nina Winstead. Raised in the Catholic faith, Mary carried her beliefs with her throughout her life. She spent many years working as a baker, first at a local bakery and later at IGA. One of her greatest joys was her beloved teacup chihuahua, Baby. Mary also enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and creating diamond paintings.
In addition to her parents, Mary was proceeded in death by her siblings, Anna L. Hill and Michael A. Winstead, as well as her aunt, Mary E. Peak.
Survivors include her children, Brian (Emilee) Hawkins Sr., Michelle Hawkins, and Michael Hawkins; sister, Patty (Stephen) Miller; grandchildren, Haley Hawkins, Brian Hawkins Jr., Brookelynn Hawkins, Brielle Hawkins, Madison Willis, Baylee Willis, Jacob Willis; 5 great grandkids; as well as many other loving family and friends.
