Diann Walker Smoot, 76, passed away on June 23, 2026, in Manassas, Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 17, 1950, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Malcom and Mary “Jackson” Walker.
Diann was the person her family could always depend on. As their “go-to” person, she was always ready to offer help, guidance, or a listening ear whenever she was needed. Her dependable nature, strength, and devotion to her loved ones made her an important part of her family’s lives.
In her free time, Diann enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas, “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital.” She will be remembered for the comfort she gave, the support she provided, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Diann was preceded in death by her siblings, Malcom Walker Jr., James Walker Sr., John Walker, Josie Rouse, and Regina Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Veronica Taylor, Gerry Smoot, and Brittany Smoot; grandchildren, Courtney Taylor, D’Mariel Smoot, Bronson Taylor, Alayshia Smoot, and Alana Smoot; one beloved great-grandchild; and siblings, Cheryl Slaughter, William Walker, Robert Walker, Darryl Walker, Michael Walker, Kenneth Walker, Ricky Walker, Marya Walker, and Yvette Brown.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
