
Edward “JR” Thomas, 82, passed away on July 7, 2026, at Redbanks Colonial Terrace Nursing Home, Sebree, KY. He was born on June 18, 1944, to the late George Edward and Sally (Skaggs) Thomas.
Edward will be remembered for his love of music, playing the guitar, singing karaoke, and spending time with the people he loved most. He especially enjoyed playing pool with his son, Chris, reading his Bible, and being with his family. Edward proudly served in the United States Army, and his faith and love for his family were an important part of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his sisters Corine Dunlap and Rebecca Louise Thomas Williams; and his nephew Eddie Wayne Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Christopher Thomas; his siblings Ricky (Sharon) Thomas and Wilbur “Butch” Thomas; his nieces and nephew, Tony Powell, Mike Powell, Jamie Thomas McCommac, Kathy Thomas, Alicia Williams and Carmen (Mark) Carter.
Edward’s extended family who he loved like his own, Angie (David) Green, Susan Calhoun (Philip Clark), and James Simpson, Abigail Green, Sara Green, Madison Calhoun, Ethan Calhoun, Emilee Simpson, Ayden Simpson, Mackenzie Green, Sydney Green, and Charlotte Green. Special thanks to his caregivers and friends at Colonial Terrace.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with prayer services to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Mark Carter officiating. Ennichement to follow at a later date at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery.
