Barbara Johnson Blanton, 87, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 while under the care of the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She was born on November 18, 1938 in Greenville, KY to the late Dallas and Edna Armstrong Johnson. Barbara was a lifelong member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She was affectionately known by church, school friends and her family as “Granny”.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Blanton; granddaughter, Laura Jane Blanton; and brother, Bobby Joe Johnson.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Blanton; grandchildren, Dallas Blanton and Dakota Blanton; great-grandchildren, Hadley Blanton, Owen Blanton, Symphany VeraViolet Blanton and Jasper Joe Blanton.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
