Josie Austin 79, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owensboro. Josie May Render was born November 20, 1946 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Emmitt and Mary Elsie Frailey Render.
Josie was a remarkably kind and hard-working woman who brought a positive attitude to everything she did. She possessed a true servant’s heart, finding peace in nature, church fellowship, and caring for the elderly in her community. Josie took great joy in gardening alongside her family, tending to her flowers, spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoying a favorite meal at Long John Silver’s.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Emmett and Elsie Render; her children, Keith Render, John Davis, and Colleta Davis; and her brother, Clates Render.
Josie’s gentle, loving legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; her devoted sister, Jean Tomes of Calhoun; and her sister-in-law, Vonell Render of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Josie’s family from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.
