
Sheila Ann Chappell McDaniel, 78, of Owensboro, Kentucky, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sheila lived life to the fullest, loved the Lord with her whole heart, and brought joy to everyone around her. She had a special gift for teaching and counseling and made many cherished friends through her Bible study groups and service to her church.
Born on June 12, 1948, in Albany, Kentucky, Sheila was the cherished daughter of Oscar and Dorothy Chappell of Lewisport, Kentucky. She graduated from Owensboro Senior High School with the Class of 1966. After graduating, she attended Owensboro Junior Business College, where she pursued a degree in marketing. She later retired from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital.
Sheila married Bruce McDaniel on May 2, 1969, and together they shared 57 blessed years of marriage.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bruce McDaniel; her siblings, Allen (Donna) Chappell, Dottie Deaton, and John (Laura) Chappell; her daughters, Cari (Keith) Bracy and Julie (Sean) Emberton; her grandchildren, Halee (Tristin) Case, Aliyah Bracy (Dazz Dean), Olivia (Adam) Sandefur, Lauren Emberton, and Jalen Bracy; and her great-grandchildren, Zolee, Zellah, Dasmane, and Ella, who is expected to arrive in August.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mark Chappell; her brother-in-law, Johnny Deaton; and her niece, Shaelyn Chappell.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Jon Bailes presiding.
