Fannie “Marie” Bunn, 95, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2026 after a short illness. She was born July 1, 1931 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Elijah Malton Baker and Iola Woodard Baker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Joe Bunn; and sisters and their husbands, Laura Lee Pittman (Elton), Edna Earl Aycock (Thomas), and Jean Potter (Norwood).
Those left to fondly remember her are her sons, Ronnie Bunn (Tami) of Owensboro and Ken Bunn (Sue Beth) of Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Lynsie Mantooth (Ryne) and Brittni Klotzback (Jake), both of Owensboro, Stephen Bunn (Jordan) of St. Augenstein, FL, and Suzanna Bunn of Columbus, GA; four great-grandchildren, Tatum and Myers Mantooth and Nealee and Josee Klotzback; brother, Glenn Baker (Paulette); and a sister, Pauline Eason (the late William).
Ms. Fannie, known as “Marie” was a devoted mother and a great cook, though no one can duplicate her recipes because they all have an extra pinch of this or a handful of that. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers. Family always looked forward to her homemade pickles and strawberry preserves. During the holidays, her homemade cookies and chocolate covered treats will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the devoted staff at Cedarhurst Senior Living that made her last years full of friendship and activities. Miss Fannie served as a resident ambassador where she met new residents and encouraged them to take an active part in the life at Cedarhurst.
Services will be at a later date. Internment will be at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville, North Carolina.
