On July 18, 2026 at the age of 73, Sandra Kay Chapman, having finished her race and kept the faith, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where she now rests in perfect peace and victory. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in God’s promise that those who trust in Him will have everlasting life. Her faith carried her throughout her life, and we rejoice knowing she has been made whole in the presence of her Savior. Born on December 27, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of Alvah Lee Northern and Lucille Burgess Northern, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Chapman, whom she married in 1969.
She is lovingly survived by her two children, Jennifer Mollet (Hank) and Jason Chapman (Nicia). Her greatest joy was being “Nana” to her four grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Caitlynn Cardwell (Logan Buchanan), Alexas Kidd (Jessie Kidd), Brittany Brown (Austin Brown), Brandon Chapman, Gemma Farough, Rowan Cole, Adelynn Kidd, and William Kidd, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
She is also survived by her brothers, Ron Northern (Gail Northern) and Jerry Northern (Thomas Foley). She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joanne Northern and Yvonne Northern; brother, Wendell Northern (Myrna Thomason); and many other loved ones who welcomed her into Heaven.
She spent many years working at the sewing factory in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, where her talent and strong work ethic were evident to everyone who knew her. She was a gifted seamstress whose hands created with remarkable skill and an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together around the table. Her home was always a place where people felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.
For three years, she was a cherished resident of Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she became part of a larger family. The staff and residents loved her dearly, and she deeply appreciated the kindness and compassion they showed her each day.
More than anything, she loved the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and the source of her strength through every season. She lived with a quiet faith, trusting God through life’s joys and hardships alike, leaving behind an example of perseverance, kindness, and grace. While we mourn her absence, we do not mourn without hope. As Scripture reminds us, “I am the resurrection, and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25). We rejoice knowing that she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and has been welcomed into the eternal presence of her savior.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
