Helen "Dorothy" Knott

March 12, 1933 - February 16, 2020

Helen “Dorothy” Knott, 86, of Sorgho, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born March 12, 1933 in St. Johns, KY to the late George and Bernadette Thompson Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph Knott on October 26, 2018, brothers, Ernie Williams and Walter Williams, great granddaughter Laylah Marie Lindsey, and step granddaughter, Karli Jo Kaska.

Dorothy attended high school at Presentation and St. Vincent Academy. She played volleyball and basketball and won a city championship. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Dorothy made 1000’s of rosaries over her lifetime which were donated to missions. Prayers, especially the Rosary, were very important to her. She always said “raising her children were the best years of her life”. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and family gatherings. Her interests included ceramics and raising strawberries.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Paul Joseph “Joe” Knott (Marianne) of Owensboro, Charles Ignatius Knott (Marjorie Kay) of Seattle, WA, Karen Gildehaus (John) of Louisville, Bruce Knott (Joanne) of Seattle, WA, Randy Knott (Nancy) of El Paso, TX, Daniel Knott (Jill) of Seattle, WA, Keith Knott (Julie Taylor) of Owensboro, and Diana Gamber (Barry) of Louisville, 20 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Aline Coomes, Francis Williams, Mary Ann Martin (Ed), and Paul Haysley, all of Louisville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass for Dorothy Knott will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 21, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Thursday with prayers at 7 PM which will include the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and after 9:30 AM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
