Donald Lee Smith, 84, of Owensboro, died on Thursday, August 2, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on January 23, 1934 in Woodford County, KY to the late Charles Burkley Smith and Myrtle Kimmel Smith. He was retired from Champion Ford. Don was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church and was active in the choir. He was a square dance caller and instructor and enjoyed camping, bowling and drag racing. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Bettye Basham Smith.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann Smith; two daughters, Charlotte Lynne Taylor (John) and Pamela Kaye Nigreville (Louis); five stepsons, Brad Devine (Amy) and Bryan Devine (the late Jamie), Brian Gafford, Mike Gafford, Rick Gafford (Jamie); 11 grandchildren, Stefanie Kocke (Damian), Brandon Taylor, April Taylor, Jared Nigreville, Erin Semeyn, Hannah Devine, Dallas Barnett, Emily Barnett, Bryson Devine, Hunter Devine, Kaden Devine, four great grandchildren and his dog, Pepper.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, Owensboro. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory and after 10:00 Monday at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church.
