Linda Sue Carman Martin

December 19, 1939 - August 14, 2018

Linda Sue Carman Martin, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, at her home.  She was born in Livermore on December 19, 1939 to the late Samuel Berry and Clara Lee Frasure Carman.  She graduated from Daviess County High School in 1957 and worked in the offices of Sears-Roebuck and Co. and then followed working at the former Tewel’s Furniture Store.  Several years later, she worked as co-manager of the Little Miss and Mister Children’s Clothing Store.  Linda was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Linda loved to read, was an impeccable cook and homekeeper and loved caring for her family.  She was involved in her family’s activities and community events.  She received the honorary Kentucky Colonel Award in recognition for years of service and concerns to other’s well being.

On June 6, 1958, Linda married Sam Martin, her husband of 60 years, They had three children, Rebecca D. Martin (Mary Mulligan) of Owensboro, Twylyn Jane Martin of Owensboro, and Jeffrey T. Martin  (Tammy) of Hanover, Pennsylvania, two grandsons, Ethan S. Martin (Kelsey) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Jacob B. Martin of Hanover.  Linda was known to her grandsons as “Nana”.  She is also survived by a sister, Judith Elaine Carman Reed of Henderson, and several nieces and great nephews.  Linda is also remembered as “Maw Maw” to Kaydence J. Miller and her mother, Lauren Miller.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 18, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mark Watson officiating.  Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Cancer Center or to the American Heart Association.
