Bertha Mae “Bup” Horrell, 97, of Owensboro passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 12, 1923 to the late John William and Mary Carmel Drury Horrell. Bertha, the youngest of 7 children, always found happiness in the smallest of things. She was retired from General Electric where she was a factory worker. With her grateful heart and devout faith, she could be referred to as an angel on earth. Bertha, a faithful member of St. Stephen Cathedral, attended Mass every day. Even in her nineties, Bertha always had her quick-wit about her. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, reading, and giving her outfits a little pop with her signature red lipstick.
Along with her parents, Bertha is preceded in death by her sisters, Teresa, Mary Elizabeth “Bess”, Mary Anthony, Catherine, Zelda; her brother, William Francis; and her sister-in-law, Marietta.
Bertha is survived by her niece, Patricia J. “P.J.” Miller of Owensboro, her nephew, Jack William Horrell of Louisville; her great-nephew, Christopher Horrell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her great-nieces, Jill Morrison and Heidi Hagerman; 6 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 6 great-great-great-nieces and nephews. As well as her best friend, Sandra Woods, who also resided at the Carmel Home.
