Charlotte Jean Newton Stogner, 67, of Reed, passed away September 8, 2018 in her home. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 3, 1951 to Charles E. Newton, Sr. and the late Margaret Rice Newton. Charlotte retired from St. Mary’s hospital where she worked as an RN after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Charlotte loved spending time with her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. She was a very hands on mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, reading, traveling, gardening, yard work, and going to the movies. Also, Charlotte adored her 7 dogs.
Along with her mother, Charlotte is preceded in death by her sister, Glenda C. Simmons.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 49 years, Doil H. Stogner, children: Rachel (Mike) Griffin, of Henderson, Kentucky, Jennifer (Bill) Ballard, of Reed, Kentucky; grandchildren: Doil A. Stogner, Katie Baker, Lindsey Wiley, Cory Wiley, Alexandria Hisle; 3 great-grandsons, brothers: Charles E. Newton, Jr., of Owensboro, Kentucky, Steve Newton, of Henderson, Kentucky; and her mother-in-law, Ida Pauline Stogner.
Services will be noon Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, with Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, 12, 2018, and again 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
