Edward Alfred Hawk

September 2, 1971 - December 26, 2021

Edward Alfred Hawk, 50 years old, of Owensboro Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 2, 1971 in Gardner, Maine.
MSG (R) Hawk was retired from the U.S Army and a member of the VFW Post 696. He joined the Army in August of 1989, at 17 years old, and attended basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After successful completion of Airborne school and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, he was assigned to 1st Ranger Battalion in Savannah, Georgia where he deployed in support of Operation Dessert Storm/Shield. He also served in 82nd Airborne where he deployed in support of the United Nations Mission in Haiti. He completed a tour at Ft. Wainright AK. He also served as a Ranger Instructor at 4th RTB in Fort Benning, Georgia. He completed tour after that, he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on two separate occasions, and then deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He held many honorable positions, from Rifleman, Platoon Sergeant to Company First Sergeant. His awards and decorations include Purple Heart, Bronze Star (second award), Meritorious Service Medal, (second award), the Ranger Tab, EIB, CIB, Pathfinder Badge, among others, before retiring on March 1, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Hawk; and nine children, Brandi E. Kost, Skyler A. Kost (Tala B. Mumford), Bobby Hawk (Kristina Moreno), Devin T. Hawk (Chelsea), Abigail Hughart (Lloyd), Zax Kost, Alexia Hawk, Grayson Hawk, and Aurora Hawk; and six grandchildren, Jasmine Moreno, Braxton Hughart, Lux Montgomery, Aiden Hawk, Elliot C. Hawk, and Harper S. Hawk. Along with multiple foster children.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
