KSP charges Daviess Co. man with child exploitation

On Dec. 14, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the Bay County Sheriff’s Department, Florida, arrested Travis C. McDaniel, 29, on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

McDaniel was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect communicating with a juvenile online to include the exchange of illegal images and meeting the juvenile for illegal sexual acts.

After discovering that McDaniel was working temporarily in Bay County, Florida, the investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Bay County, FL. on December 14, 2018. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and will be transferred to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is expected to yield further charges and remains ongoing.

McDaniel is currently charged with eight counts of unlawful transaction with a minor first degree, illegal sex acts with minor under 16 (Class B felony), one count of use of a minor under 16 in a sexual performance (Class B felony), and one count of prohibited use of electronic means to procure a minor (Class D felony).

Each Class B felony is punishable by 10-15 years in prison and each Class D felony is punishable by 1-5 years in prison.

McDaniel was lodged in the Bay County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Daviess County.
