Lady Panthers fall short in Smoky Mountain Cup

“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

Girls Soccer — St. George’s 5, Daviess County 4

The Lady Panthers (1-2) got on the board first, but couldn’t hold on in the loss to St. George’s (Collierville, Tenn.) in the Smoky Mountain Cup, held in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Bobbi Sandifer, Reagan Watkins, Kenlee Newcom and Meredith Campbell each had one goal for Daviess County. Sandifer, Lauren Fuqua and Ashlyn Payton each added an assist. Gracie Kemplin had three saves in goal.

They play again today at 10:45 a.m. against Ensworth (Nashville, Tenn.) and against Alcoa (Tenn.) at 4:15 p.m. Both matches are part of the Smoky Mountain Cup.
