Centre Court will have a new head professional starting Monday. The Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Association board named Chuck Brown to the position Wednesday.

Chuck Brown said he wanted to get closer to his hometown of Lexington, so when this opportunity became available, he reached out to Noel Clayton, Centre Court’s General Manager.

Brown coached at Transylvania University for 16 years (2000-2016) where he won 11 consecutive Heartland Conference Coach of the Year awards, as well as a pair of USPTA Southern Division College Coach of the Year and USTA Kentucky Coach of the Years awards. While coaching, his team won 88 consecutive matches over an eight-year span.

Jodi Mitchell, a Centre Court board member, and both of Clayton’s sons played for Brown at Transylvania.

Brown spent the last year in Mississippi, where he served as Director of Tennis for two clubs in Greenwood, running all their tennis programs. His focus there was on USTA Team practices, group and private lessons, fast feed clinics, junior clinics, High Performance Junior Program and all tennis pro shop needs.

Brown has also served as president of the USPTA Kentucky Chapter on three separate two-year terms.

Brown begins co-teaching youth clinics next week. For more information, contact Centre Court at (270) 240-4213.
