“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.
Several cross country teams had meets Saturday. The Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic boys golf teams competed at the Union County Invitational. Daviess County, Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic volleyball were scheduled to compete in the Best of the West Tournament. The Apollo and Owensboro Catholic girls golf teams were scheduled to play but did not attend the events.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Owensboro Catholic girls teams ran at the Warren East Raider Twilight Run, but results were not available. Other results are as follows:
Daviess County girls — Tiger Run
Karlee Hoffman (19:08.28) finished first overall the lead the Lady Panthers to a second-place finish with 76 points, behind Floyd Central (57 points). Other scoring runners were Ainsley Taylor (20:25.68, 8 points), Emily Roberts (21:06.17, 18), Lauren Howe (21:17.95, 23) and Emily Rempe (21:25.32, 26).
Daviess County boys — Tiger Run
The Panthers took seventh place (243 points) in a field of 31 teams. They were led by Alex Adams (16:48.91, 16 points), Brady Terry (16:56.78, 18), Logan Gish (17:42.69, 52), Justin Shelton (18:15.79, 69) and Jacob Kirk (18:30.22, 88).
Owensboro Catholic — Tiger Run
The Aces finished 10th of 31 teams with 285 points. Austin Stallings (16:16.83) took second place overall to lead OCHS. Other scoring runners were Jason Cason (17:13.60, 26 points), Hank Dotsey (17:50.93, 56), Sean Whitehouse (18:23.04, 78) and Jude Neal (19:21.21, 123).
Apollo boys — Harrison High School XC Invitational
The boys team finished fourth overall with 103 points, behind Gibson Southern (80), Evansville North (95) and South Knox (96).
Scoring runners or Apollo were Hunter Brand (18:05.70, 13 points), Ethan Dych (18:24.20, 18), Jake Alvey (18:25.90, 19), Dalton Barnett (18:34.20, 25) and Ryan Payne (18:40.30, 28).
BOYS GOLF
Boys Golf — Daviess County @ Union County Invitational
The Panthers shot a a 364 as a team, with scores from Jack Lashbrook (77), Paul Iracane (78), James Rhineburger (104) and Andrew Chancellor (105).
Boys Golf — Owensboro @ Union County Invitational
The Red Devils finished second overall with a 331, behind only Marshall County (311). Jesse Holton (73) finished second individually to lead the team. OHS also got scores from Daniel Love (77), Nick Johnson (88) and Brady Huckleberry (93).

Best of the West Tournament
Teams from Owensboro Catholic, Owensboro and Daviess County were scheduled to compete in the Best of the West Tournament held at Owensboro. Not all results were available. Scores that were available are as follows:
