Yesterday in Sports: DCHS, AHS, OCHS volleyball

“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

Daviess County beat Madisonville-North Hopkins at home, while Apollo and Owensboro suffered losses on the road Tuesday.

Daviess County

The Lady Panthers (1-0) beat the Lady Maroons 3-1 (25-11, 25-22, 17-25, 25-18). They play again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Frederick Fraize.

Apollo

The E-Gals (1-2) lost a close match 3-2 (23-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-22, 13-15) at Bowling Green. Natalie Ewing led the team with 16 kills and four blocks, while Jenna McMillen added 12 kills, Taylor Blair and nine kills, and Carlee Widmer finished with 31 assists and seven kills. Apollo next plays Friday when the host the Apollo Summer Slam Tournament.

Owensboro

The Lady Devils (1-2) fell to Ohio County 3-1 (13-25, 25-16, 15-25, 19-25). Krystell Pappas led the way with seven kills, nine assists and seven digs. Jersie Rhineburger added five aces and seven digs, Kennedy Thompson had six digs and three assists. Skylar Stallings finished with six digs. Owensboro plays again at 6:30 Thursday against Grayson County.
