Boys soccer; District volleyball results

“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

BOYS SOCCER
Apollo 8, Webster County 1
The Eagles (7-7-3) picked up a road win with scoring from six different players. Jacob Gillim and Sui Thang each scored a pair of goals to lead the way for Apollo.

Jaelin Kirk, Wesley Knott, William Martin and John Zuberer each added a goal. Gilliam, Thang, Harrison Bowman, Yanuyo Ton and Yo Ya finished with one assist a piece. Matthew Marks had two saves in goal.

Apollo travels to Madisonville-North Hopkins in the final road game of the season.

Owensboro 8, Bowling Green 0
The Red Devils (12-4-1) picked up the shutout at home behind three goals and an assist from Austin Sovar. Owensboro scored seven goals in the second half.

Andrew Saltsman (2), Reis Dickinson, Paxton Jenkins, and Fermin Mosqueda also added goals. Saltsman (2), Zane West, Grayson McFarland, Jenkins and Radley Worth each finished with assists.

The Red Devils play their final home game of the season Thursday against Ohio County.

VOLLEYBALL
Owensboro Catholic beats Owensboro 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-17)
The Lady Aces (11-8, 4-2 District 9) won their fifth consecutive match with the win at Owensboro (4-21, 0-6). No stats were available for either team. The Lady Devils host Hancock County at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and both teams travel to McCracken County for the Quad State Tournament starting Friday.

Trinity beats Edmonson County 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-19)
The Lady Raiders (20-6, 6-0 District 12) remained undefeated in district play with their victory. Leading the way were Savannah Aull (12 kills), Nina Wathen (17 assists, 6 kills), Morgan Kinsey (3 kills) and Cassidy Morris (3 kills).

Trinity plays their final match Thursday at Grayson County and finishes the regular season Tuesday against Owensboro.
