BOYS SOCCER
Aces get shoutout in All “A” sectional
Owensboro Catholic (5-8) rolled to an 8-0 victory over Russellville in the 3rd/4th Region All “A” Sectional played at home. The win gives them a berth in the All “A” State Tournament, held Sept. 22-23 at Capital View Park in Frankfort.

The Aces were led by a hat trick from Joe Fusco, and they also got goals from Kevin Piedrahita (2), Davis Connor (2) and Jack Bach. Fusco and Lance Dickens finished with two assists each, while Piedrahita and Cole Blanford each had one. Boone McElroy had one save.

The Aces are off until a 7 p.m. Thursday match at Owensboro for their final district game of the season.

Owensboro dominates Logan County at home
Paxton Jenkins scored three goals to lead the Red Devils (8-3-1) to an 8-1 victory at home. Zane West added two goals in the first half.

Andrew Saltsman and Reis Dickenson also scored, and Hser Thaw had added the final goal midway through the second. Saltsman had three assists, Jenkins finished with two, and West and Austin Sovar each added one. Radley Worth had three saves.

Owensboro crosses the border for the next match, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at South Spencer.

Apollo plays to tie with Greenwood
The Eagles (6-6-2) finished with a 1-1 tie at home. Jaelin Kirk scored the lone goal with an assist from Wes Knott. John Zuberer had four saves in goal, and Matt Marks had two.

Apollo will go on the road Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game at Ohio County.

GIRLS GOLF
Brown leads Apollo to third place
Macey Brown shot a personal best 85 to tie for third individually, leading the E-Gals to a third-place finish at the Graves County Invitational. Mary Ann Lyons also had her best round of the season with a 109. Also scoring for Apollo were Briley Carter (91) and Brooke Brown (92).

Trio of Lady Aces compete in Louisville
Owensboro Catholic had three golfers compete in the Butler Invitational as individuals. Emma Payne (1-over-par 73) and Maddi Roberts (82) set personal records, and Abby Bahnick shot an 88.

DCHS, OHS, AHS all compete in Muhlenberg Invitational
Daniel Love was the medalist and led the Daviess County team to an 8-stroke lead as they posted their second-best score of the year with a 305. Love (70) was joined by scorers Jesse Holton (78), Nick Johnson (78), Brady Huckleberry (79). Braden Whistle shot an 80.

Owensboro shot 339 with scoring from Paul Iracane (76), Jack Lashbrook (78), Lucas Lyons (92) and Andrew Chancellor (93).

Apollo finished with a 391 with scores from Noah Stewart (88), Isaac Crabtree (89), Aiden Watson (103) and Nathan Payne (111).

CROSS COUNTRY
Apollo teams come out on top at St. Mary Invitational
The Apollo cross country squads took the top individual and team spots in both boys’ and girls’ action at the St. Mary Invitational in Paducah. For the girls, Sammi Roberts placed first with a time of 21:02.65, while Thomas Ashby led the boys with a time of 17:31.57.

Other scoring runners for the girls were Abby Rumage (4th, 22:44.69), Baylee Hare (6th, 22:57.57), Kaitlyn Alvey (10th, 23:23.54) and Angel King (18th, 24:27.11).

Scoring runners for the boys were Ethan Dych (8th, 18:29.81), Jake Alvey (10th, 18:36.49), Hunter Brand (14th, 18:47.53) and Blake Rigdon (20th, 19:10.24).

Panthers, Lady Panthers compete in Louisville
The DCHS teams ran in the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville, where the girls’ team finished seventh, with the boys taking 14th.

Scoring runners for the Lady Panthers were Karlee Hoffman (9th, 19:03.00), Ainsley Taylor (39th, 20:45.40), Riliegh Owens (46th, 21:04.90), Emily Ann Roberts (49th, 21:13.00) and Emily Rempe (53rd, 21:20.70).

Scoring for the Panthers were Alex Adams (44th, 17:06.30), Brady Terry (55th, 17:16.90), Logan Gish (73rd, 17:48.50), Justin Shelton (80th, 17:58.60) and Evan Swift (89th, 18:06.90).

Aces 4th, Lady Aces 10th in respective meets
In boys’ action, Austin Stallings took third place individually to lead Owensboro Catholic to fourth as a team in the Franklin County Invitational in Lexington.

Stallings finished with a time of 16:15.54. Other scoring runners for the Aces were John Cason (9th, 17:30.91), Hank Dotsey (26th, 18:15.56), Sean Whitehouse (75th, 19:41.93) and Ty Gatton (81st, 19:50.83).

For the girls, Alexandria Scheithe took second overall with a time of 21:13.91 to lead the Lady Aces to 10th in the Fairgrounds Frenzy in Elizabethtown. Other scorers were Bethany Mayfield (42nd, 24:04.56), Kate Weafer (46th, 24:23.09), Anna Lee Meyer (73rd, 25:43.63) and Elisa Clouse (74th, 25:46.11).
