“Yesterday in Sports” brings you the highlights from sports in Owensboro and Daviess County.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Lady Raiders sweep pair of matches
Trinity (17-3, 4-0 District 12) extended its win streak to five by winning both matches of a doubleheader against Union County. The Lady Raiders won the first match 2-0 (25-6, 25-13), and again swept the second match 2-0 (25-19, 25-6).

Leading Trinity were Savannah Aull (6 kills, 6 assists), Nina Wathen (8 kills, 12 assists) and Cassidy Morris (4 kills). The Lady Raiders return to action when they host Butler County (8-4, 2-3 District 12) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lady Devils fall at home
Owensboro (4-19, 0-4 District 9) lost to Meade County 2-0 (25-20, 25-9) at home. No stats were available. Owensboro plays at Apollo (16-4, 4-0) at 7 p.m. today.

GIRLS SOCCER
Owensboro routs McLean County on road
The Lady Devils (5-6, 1-4 District 9) used scoring from several players to earn a 10-1 victory over the Lady Cougars. Evie Pierson led the way with three goals to go along with three assists.

Also scoring for OHS were Macey Cundiff (2), Ella Bratcher (2), Hadley Duvall, Emma Kingsley and Abby Beck. The Lady Devils got assists from Alexis Westerfield (2), Alissa Ryszipski, Ella Bratcher, Taysheona Howard and Isabella  Soza. Aubrie Schueler 2 saves in goal.

Owensboro plays again at 7 p.m. today with a trip across town to Owensboro Catholic (8-2-1, 5-0).

GIRLS GOLF
Carter medalist in tri-match
Apollo’s Briley Carter led all scorers with a 2-over-par 38 at Ben Hawes to take home first place in a tri-match between Apollo, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Ohio County. Madisonville won the match with a 180.

Other scores for Apollo (196) were Macey Brown (42), Mary Ann Lyons (56) and Brooke Brown (60). Owensboro’s Savannah Gatton (41) competed as an individual.
