The Apollo boys soccer team cruised to an 8-0 victory over Fort Campbell on senior night in the final home game of the year.

The Eagles (8-7-3) got scores and assists from several different players, and head coach Ryan Poirier said that was part of the game plan.

“We played all our seniors to start and end the game,” he said. “Everybody played well and a lot of guys got to score. It was a nice game to get everybody in and play some guys out of position.”

Sui Thang got things going early with a goal four minutes in off a pass from Yanuyo Ton. A pair of goals midway through the first half gave them a comfortable lead.

Harrison Bowman scored on an assist from Wei Yan, then Bowman connected with Jaelin Kirk for a goal. Bowman added his second goal on an assist from Elbert Moo, and the Eagles held a 4-0 lead at the half.

The second-half scoring got started early with a goal from Brandon Greer and assist by John Zuberer. Apollo finished off their scoring with three goals six minutes apart midway through the half.

Justin Gillim scored on a penalty kick and Kirk found the net on a pass from Sam Scott. Gillim got a second goal with an assist from Greer.

Apollo has one more game this season with an away match against Madisonville-North Hopkins. The contest, rescheduled from Tuesday, is set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Madisonville has had a great season,” Poirier said. “It should be a good, competitive match. We play a tough opponent to get us ready for that district game Monday.”

The Eagles start the District 9 Tournament Monday with a match against Owensboro at 7:30 p.m. Owensboro is hosting the tournament. The two split their games this season, with both meetings ending 1-0.
