Daviess County didn’t waste any time in putting the game away, as they easily rolled to a 53-6 victory over Ohio County in the final week of district play Friday night.

The Panthers (5-4, 2-2 Class 6A District 1) held a 34-0 lead over the Eagles (0-9, 0-4) at the end of the first quarter. They started a running clock after a 27-yard touchdown reception by Marquel Tinsley with 10:06 left in the second quarter.

Tinsley was effective with his catches, gaining 99 yards and scoring three times on five receptions in the first half. His first touchdown — a 30-yard catch less than six minutes in — was the start of the big night for Daviess County.

About a minute later, quarterback Joey Cambron connected with Alex Nalley for a 75-yard strike, and it was the second of five touchdown passes on the night.

Cambron found Tinsley again for a 25-yard score with 3:39 left in the opening quarter, and Blake Baker caught a 55-yard touchdown pass a minute and a half later.

Tinsley added another touchdown with 18 seconds to play in the first with a pick-six, and he also scored on the two-point conversion.

Tinsley rounded out his night with the touchdown that started the running clock, and the Panthers got one more score in the first half with a 45-yard run by Shane Riley.

Daviess County’s final score came on a 15-yard run by JQ Fletcher early in the third quarter.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season with a crosstown rivalry as they host Apollo (5-4, 1-3 Class 5A District 1), who broke a four-game losing streak by beating Marshall County.
