A pair of local football players were chosen to play in the annual Best of the Bluegrass All-Star game. Daviess County’s Marquel Tinsley was named to the team as a wide receiver, and Owensboro Catholic’s Von Williams was selected as a linebacker.

The two players are part of a 40-man roster that is comprised of seniors in Kentucky who are outside of the Louisville area. They’ll face a team of players from Louisville in a game at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at Elizabethtown High School.

Tinsley, playing in eight of nine games this season due to an injury in week two, is the leading receiver for the Panthers. He’s caught 61 passes for 1,102 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also leads the team with three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Williams was named to the all-star team as a linebacker, but his biggest contributions have come as a powerful running back for the Aces. Through nine games, he’s taken 120 carries for 1,119 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s also got 16 catches for 184 yards and three touchdowns. As a defender, Williams has 22 tackles this year.
