Five local runners named to All-State teams

A trio of runners from Owensboro Catholic and two from Daviess County were named to the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association All-State teams in recognition of their season achievements.

For Owensboro Catholic, junior Alexandra Scheithe, senior Austin Stallings and junior John Cason were selected to the 1A teams. Daviess County senior Karlee Hoffman and sophomore Brady Terry made the 3A teams.

Following the state meets held Saturday at Kentucky Horse Park, the awards were announced Sunday for the boys’ and girls’ teams in all three classes.

Scheithe took sixth place in the 1A girls race with a time of 20:24.89. Austin Stallings finished fourth for the boys with a time of 16:16.39, and Cason took 11th in 17:09.40

Hoffman was runner-up in girls’ 3A action with a time of 18:56.08, while Terry finished in 16:54.09 for the boys.
