KWC falls to Aces in final exhibition

The Kentucky Wesleyan men’s basketball team played a final exhibition game Thursday night, falling 92-72 on the road to Evansville University.

Wesleyan held a lead for the first eight minutes, but a quick 6-0 run put the Aces on top 24-21. The Panthers got within a point at 34-33, but a 23-6 run over the final 7:29 of the half helped Evansville take a sizeable lead at the break.

KWC was never able to close the gap in the second half, though the loss will not officially count on their record.

Mohamed Abu Arisha lead the Panthers with with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Zavon Godwin added 14 points and four rebounds off the bench, and Adam Goetz finished with 13 points and six assists.

The Panthers have a week off before returning to action as hosts of the Kentucky Wesleyan Thanksgiving Classic. They play Salem at 7:45 p.m. Friday, then face Indiana University Southeast at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
