DC dance team wins state, other local teams compete

The Daviess County dance team brought home the state title in the Small Hip Hop division of the KHSAA State Dance Championships held in Lexington on Saturday.

The team earned 88.125 points, easily outscoring second-place finisher Butler’s 84.250. Owensboro Catholic finished 14th in the division.

Daviess County also finished the Small Pom division in eighth place. Owensboro Catholic got 19th and Apollo finished 21st in Small Pom.

DC head coach Debbie Connor said she is proud of the team’s success all season long.

“Winning state is such a huge accomplishment for our team,” Connor said. “We’ve worked morning and night preparing for this moment, and this team couldn’t deserve it more.”

The dance team roster includes:
Seniors — Celine Le, Emma Smith, Kaley Hall and Ellis Birkhead
Junior — Maggie Clark
Sophomores — Kyra Rowan, Katelyn Ahart, Terionna Inman, Breanna Herrin and Hope Miles
Freshmen — Lexie Coomes and Alexa McDuffee
Head Coach Debbie Connor, assistant coaches Kendal Connor and Kelsey Frields
